Up and at em!

Rylan has always shown extra strength in his legs so we really believed that he would be an early walker. I even went as far to say that he would be walking at 8 months. This did not happen and that's just fine by us.
Over the past couple weeks however, he has shown real improvements. In fact, he has a new record of standing time. Roughly 23 seconds. Unfortunately, no one else got to see it but me. So I guess I could consider myself the lucky one.
What is the best way to get a child to stand? Distract them. Rylan seems to be much more willing to stand when he is fixated on something. Whether that be food or a toy, he wont even realize that he is standing. This turns his legs from a jiggly mess to tough as steel.
Everyone says to enjoy these days because he isn't too mobile and getting into trouble. Maybe this is the case but we sure are looking forward to his first steps. I guess many people would consider us naive first time parents. Think positive and good things will happen. We are awaiting the day.
Who wouldn't want to see their baby take their first steps?
I never really liked it when people (and probably myself) would say things like you can't wait for this, but you'll miss the good old days when they couldn't or something to that effect. I think most parents are excited about all of the new things their children can do and an experienced parent shouldn't say you'd wish it hadn't or won't happen because it makes things harder/different. Having a new baby is hard enough at any stage. It's just a blessing and very cute when a baby learns to do something new.
