Blast from the Past.

Written on January 21, 2008 by Kevin.

A while back, my wife and I became interested in purchasing old records to play for the children. We are only interested in Disney related ones that the kids will be able to associate with the movies they enjoy. We have been slowly building a small stack of them over the past 9 months or so just waiting to find a record player to go along with them. We looked everywhere but just couldn't find a decent one.

This past Christmas though we were surprised with a brand new record player that also plays CDs and the radio too. I quickly set it up at home to see how Rylan would respond. We are lucky to have his favorite movie which is still Mary Poppins on record and he now asks for us to play it. He also loves to request the Jungle Book record and even lately he has been asking for the Aristocats. This last weekend I was lucky enough to find a couple more Walt Disney Collection records which have different music from different movies. Some of the songs are originals from the movies and others are not which is a bit of a dissappointment.

I think it's nice that Rylan and Kaitlyn soon will be able to enjoy the way things used to be done. I know as a kid I had a record player in my home and while I did not use it often, it's something I will always remember. A bonus to this all is that when we turn on one of Rylan's request, he loves to either dance to the music or sits calmly on the couch listening. He can't seem to get enough of it.
