Week in Review

Written on August 21, 2009 by Rylan & Kaitlyn.

Well this week of course our mom had all of her wisdom teeth removed. Her mouth did not seem to like it though and now her face is all swollen and she is in a lot of pain. We are doing what we can to help her. We offer up a lot of hugs and kisses which we know from experience, really does help.

Her appointment was on Tuesday and dad took the day off. He woke us up so that we could go pickup our mom and he explained what had happened and that mom would need to be taken care of and that we needed to be on our best behavior. We did. Dad thought we did very well all day. He has been taking care of us when he returns from work the past couple of days as well. Mom has just been too tired. We headed outside last night to play with the chalk. It has been so hot this summer that we haven't even been able to go outside and play much. The cement is just too hot but last night it was perfect. The weather was actually pretty nice even though it was still over 100F.

We aren't sure what is gonna be going on this weekend but we will make the best of it. Maybe we will meet up with family at the library. Whatever we do, we are definitely going to take it slow for our mom.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Well the most exciting thing that happened this week is that we finally got a bit of rain. It rained yesterday morning and it was wet when we woke up and came down stairs. Unfortunately it had already stopped raining so we didn't get a chance to go outside. As expected, it's back to being hot today.

Our mom has been creating even more cupcake flavors. We had our first s'more the other day when dad brought out some of his manly tools and torched us some marshmallows. They were really good and we may have to ask for them more often as a special treat.

Overall this week has been pretty slow. Our mom has some strong mouth pain lately because of her wisdom teeth coming in. They will be removed on Tuesday so we hope everything goes well. Dad will be taking the day off to watch us while she rests and recovers.

Oh before we call it done. If my dad ever invites you to try one of his famous bean burgers, understand that they are famous because they are terrible. Last night he took it upon himself to make them with another new recipe because the others have not turned out too well. This recipe did not work well either. Kaitlyn wouldn't even touch it and our mom and I just took a nibble before putting it down. Our dad stuck through it however and ate it all. Slowly moving into a more vegan lifestyle is coming with new challenges it seems.

That's about it. Have a good weekend everyone.

Well lets see what has been happening this week. This has definitely been a great week for dancing and singing. We love to dance and sing to all types of music and videos but especially Yo Gabba Gabba and just about anything Disney. We clear the room out and just boogy!

We have been going to the library a lot lately to pickup books for mom's baking. While there we also pick up a bunch of movies for Kaitlyn and I. We share picking the movie to watch and we do pretty well. We have been watching movies that we have never seen before so it's been really fun.

Oh. Kaitlyn is a runner. A little runner that will not stop for anything while we are out. She just giggles and ignores us which is quite frustrating to mom and dad. They are working on it but she is a very determined little girl. For the time being, they are having to use one of those bear backpack leashes which is quite embarrassing but the possible alternative is not something we want to deal with. There was a younger girl the other day that was making comments about how Kaitlyn is like a dog but unfortunately that is just the situation we are in. Mom of course stepped up and made sure that lady understood the situation and to think before she speaks out loud. It was funny.

Mom has been making an Army sized amount of cupcakes lately. Our dad has been taking pictures of them and then taking the cupcakes to work for people to try. They just devour them he says. Everyone says we should be selling them so now we are. She already has 40+ flavors. It's amazing!

Speaking of amazing.. mom one upped herself the other day by making some extra tasty vegan enchiladas. We all loved them except for Kaitlyn but we think it may have been a bit too spicy for her. Nevertheless, these may have been her best enchiladas ever.

To wrap the review up.. Kaitlyn and I have been perfecting our coloring and drawing skills. Kaitlyn is focusing on staying within the lines while I make some amazing people drawings. Both of our skill levels have improved dramatically over the recent months. Mom is keeping everything we make so that will be fun to look at years and years from now.

That's gonna do it. Have a fun weekend everyone.
